TNEA Counselling Process

Here is the detailed TNEA counselling process:

1. The counselling for special reservation categories such as Eminent Sports Persons, Differently Abled, and Wards of Ex-Servicemen will be conducted online. General Counselling, vocational Counselling, and allocation of 7.5% preferential seats to students who have studied in state Government Schools from 6th to 12th grade will proceed simultaneously online.

2. The counselling process will consist of three rounds, with candidates participating in the corresponding round based on their rank. Each round will involve four stages: Choice Filling, Allotment, Confirmation of Allotment, and Reporting to the College/TFC (TNEA Facilitation Centers) for fee payment based on confirmation.

3. Candidates will have three days to fill their choices, prioritizing colleges and branches according to their preferences. The order of preferences is crucial, and candidates can select any number of choices.

4. Seat allocation will be based on the candidate’s choices, considering their rank, community, and seat availability.

5. During the Allotment stage, candidates receiving a seat will be presented with six options, and they must confirm their decision within two days:

  • Accept and Join: Candidates satisfied with the allotted seat must download the provisional allotment order and report to the college for admission by the specified date.
  • Accept and Upward: Candidates satisfied with the allotted seat but wishing to await higher choices in subsequent rounds must report to the nearest TFC, pay the necessary fees for upward movement, and confirm the previous allotment.
  • Decline and Upward: Candidates dissatisfied with the allotted seat but desiring higher preferences in subsequent rounds must decline the allotment and await further rounds for better options.
  • Decline and Move to Next Round: Candidates unsatisfied with the allotted seat but willing to participate in the next round must decline the offer.
  • Decline and Quit: Candidates unsatisfied with the allotted seat and unwilling to participate in subsequent rounds must decline and withdraw from the counselling process.
  • Upward or Move to Next Round: Candidates not allotted any seat based on their choices can opt for upward movement in hopes of securing a seat. If unsuccessful, they will proceed to the next round.

6. Candidates eligible for scholarships/fee concessions under the Government’s 7.5% preferential treatment for Government school students, First Generation Graduate scholarship scheme, and PMSS must report to colleges and TFCs for upward movement without fee payment.

7. Seats of candidates not reporting to colleges and TFCs will be considered vacant and pooled for upward movement in subsequent rounds, updating the seat matrix accordingly.
