MHT CET CAP Round 1

MHT CET CAP round 1 is the first formal seat allotment process in the counselling process. The MHT CET round 1 seat allotment is often considered more competitive as it involves high cutoff trends and early allotments to the top-tier colleges in Maharashtra. Choice filling for the MHT CET CAP round 1 opens after the document verification is completed. Students are allowed to choose and fill out the colleges they prefer to apply to. Seats are allotted based on merit, category and availability. Once allotted, students have to pay the seat acceptance fee, i.e. ₹1000(Non-refundable) to confirm the allotted seat.

MHT CET CAP Round 1 Cutoff:

Cutoffs will be released post-allotment. These will be available category-wise, college-wise, and course-wise and serve as a benchmark for future rounds.

Note: Candidates have the option to freeze, float, or slide once they are allotted the seat. Candidates can participate in the subsequent rounds using the float or slide options.

MHT CET CAP Round 2

MHT CET CAP round 2 is the second round of the counselling process intended for students who are not allotted admissions in the MHT CET CAP round 1. Candidates who did not confirm their seats in round 1, or those students who selected the float option, or those students who failed to appear for round 1, are eligible to appear for the MHT CET CAP round 2.

In round 2, Candidates are eligible for the fresh choice filling, rearranging preferences chosen in round 1. The CAP results are expected to be declared in early August. Cutoffs for the MHT CET round 2 are slightly lower compared to the CAP round 1. Students have similar options to confirm or participate in the subsequent rounds.

MHT CET CAP Round 3

CAP Round 3 is typically the last centralised round before spot admissions. It caters to vacant seats from earlier rounds and welcomes fresh applicants as well as those seeking seat upgradation. This round is open to all registered candidates, including those who did not participate in earlier rounds. Seat allotment is done based on updated preferences and the availability of seats at that stage.

Since most competitive seats are filled by this point, the cutoffs in Round 3 are generally the lowest, making it particularly beneficial for students targeting newer colleges or less competitive branches. Choice filling for this round usually begins in early August, with seat allotment scheduled for mid-August. Candidates are required to report and confirm their admission within 2–3 days of the allotment result. It’s important for students to include realistic and backup options in their preference list to ensure a better chance of securing a seat.

MHT CET 2025 Spot Round

Spot round is a last resort and is not a guaranteed round that is conducted every year. The Spot admission round is an institute-level round, unlike a centralised process. Only unaided private colleges participate in the spot round, and the seat accepted is final. Students are subjected to document verification at the college and are asked to pay the fees once the seat is allotted.

Note: Candidates are advised not to rely on this round, since this is not a guaranteed round, unlike the previous CAP rounds.

What After MHT CET 2025 Seat Allotment?

Candidates have to ensure that they follow several steps after the MHT CET seat allotment, as failure to follow the steps mentioned below might result in cancellation of the seat.

  1. Step 1: Log in to their CAP portal account
  2. Step 2: Accept the seat using “freeze,” “float,” or “slide” options
  3. Step 3: Pay the seat acceptance fee (₹1000 approx.) online
  4. Step 4: Report to the allotted college with originals and printouts.
  5. Step 5: Complete the college admission formalities (fee payment, hostel booking, etc.).
