MHT CET PCM Exam Analysis: Student Reviews For April 19th Shift 1 and Shift 2
According to student reviews from the MHT CET 2025, April 19th – Shift 1 & Shift 2, here is a summary of what students perceived about the exam.
Shift 1
Physics:
Difficulty Level: Moderate to Tough
Physics was mostly tough because the majority of problems were numerical. Topics such as semiconductors, current electricity, and electrostatics were included in bulk. Many students felt these questions tested their understanding and descriptive capability because they were slow. According to the students, there were fewer theoretical questions. The overall section attempted was thought to be concept-based. Numerous students commented that numericals took the most time, and they had to hurriedly solve as time felt short.
Chemistry:
Difficulty Level: Moderate
Chemistry was generally viewed as a balanced paper. Questions were a blend of theory and application-based questions. Various chapters like Organic Chemistry, Coordination compounds, and Inorganic Chemistry had direct and non-numerical questions. Questions about Coordination Compounds seem to stand out, most of them had to do with understanding complexes and their naming (occasionally including Ayurvedic names). For Chemistry specifically, students described it to be more manageable than Physics, and they had more time to spare.
Mathematics
Difficulty Level: Moderate to Tough
Mathematics was viewed as the hardest section by many students, mainly because of the longer questions with a heavier focus on numericals. Integration, Differential Equations, and Vectors were the most commonly discussed. Students felt like these questions required greater attention and time.
Shift 2
Physics:
Difficulty Level: Moderate
Physics in Shift 2, in the student’s view, was marginally easier than Shift 1; there was a good balance of numerical and concept-based questions. Many questions also asked students to draw on complex topics such as semiconductors and current electricity. The students did not see many theoretical questions, and the majority of the questions asked students to display their understanding of the concepts, when necessary, rather than recall memorised terminology.
Chemistry:
Difficulty Level: Moderate
Students found the Chemistry of Shift 2 to have the right blend of theory-based and application-based questions. Chemistry was easier than Physics, and the questions in the Chemistry sections were not too lengthy. Organic Chemistry, Coordination Compounds, and Inorganic Chemistry were key topics.
Mathematics:
Difficulty Level: Moderate
Students found Mathematics assessments in Shift 2 slightly more manageable than in Shift 1. Mathematics problems tended to take longer but were less problematic in Shift 2. Similar to Shift 1, Vectors, Integration, and Differential Equations were the dominant topics in the Mathematics section.
Conclusion
The MHT CET 2025 exam, conducted on April 19 in both Shifts 1 and 2, contained a balanced, theme-based examination that assessed students on both conceptual knowledge and time usage. From both student reactions and subject matter experts’ reviews: Shift 1 was slightly more towards difficulty, especially in the mathematics section, with lengthy calculations and application questions progressing to the section as the majority of the Physical and Chemistry segment was mostly NCERT-based. However, Shift 2 was seen as balanced, where Physics was perceived as slightly easier. Math once again involved more analytic thinking, and Chemistry shone again as NCERT-based, with a balanced focus on Organic, Inorganic, and Physical chemistry.
In general, across both shifts, most questions were relevant to the prescribed syllabus of the Maharashtra State Board. Time management became a more significant influence in Math after reviewing a few students expressed that time was a rush.
