Joharika was doing her first Year of BTech at a good engineering college. But she wanted to learn tech skills better, so she joined NIAT. Joharika says
It’s a six-day-a-week class. Three days are for aptitude and English learning, with one hour allocated for each class. Tech-related subjects start with HTML and CSS, followed by Python and SQL. After 1 and 1.5 hours of productivity, they generally play TT and foosball for 15 to 20 minutes. There are in-house workshops where the CEO comes and interacts with all the students regularly“.

Joharika differentiated between the regular college and NIAT, saying,
In a normal college, we attend classes from 9 to 3 or 9 to 4. We attend classes and labs and then appear for exams. But if we need to learn extra skills, we must put in effort after college hours and learn through online sources on YouTube, etc. But if the college teaches us all the skills instead of just teaching for a degree, that would be the best option. The college should teach us to build skills.”

About the NIAT evaluation process,
We have exams every three months for three subjects. We dedicate every Saturday for three months. So it’s enough if we just boost up one week before the exam.”

NIAT projects :
In the first week, after they taught HTML and CSS, they made us apply it to real-world problems. NxtWave has several online workshops. They gave each of us a website and asked us to replicate it. Currently, in full stack, few are pursuing frontend and few are pursuing backend, and later they will swap and learn the whole thing. After we learn full-stack development, we will be going for internships. We will spend one year on internships, projects, competitive programming, and participating in different hackathons.”

Final Verdict:If you want to advance your tech career, this is your best choice. Rather than joining colleges, if you want to come here, you will have an edge. As we learn skills for all the 4 years, we do not have to go through the hardships like starting job preparation in the 4th year.”

Nikhil joined NIAT just right after his Intermediate.
Nikhil elaborated on the day-to-day life of NIAT and the curriculum:

At the beginning, it is 9 to 5. After that, when the BITS semester started, it was extended to 9 7. It starts with the front end with HTML and CSS, followed by SQL, and then we go to Python, which is backend related. Then, we learn about programming foundations, the internal unit of computers. After learning the basics of Python, we go to DSA-related things, and thus, we learn both frontend and backend.

First, there will be a 1-hour lecture, and then they will give some problems to practice with an assignment to test our efficiency in that topic.

Nikhil also spoke about NIAT Internship preparation & skills training:
They also teach us how to get an internship and how to prepare for it. What are the topics we should concentrate on more? What type of problems should we solve, and what should our mindset be?
NIAT has an in-built curriculum that teaches all the tech-related skills and degree-level learning. Monday to Friday, we concentrate on NIAT regarding tech skills. On Saturday, we covered everything we had learnt the whole week.
I am confident that after 4 years, I will be placed in one of the best companies.”

Nitish joined NIAT after cracking EAMCET. He is from Vizag.
He said, “After one week of learning HTML and CSS, we were given a website-based project, and I completed that in just two days. We were then assigned a developer who clarified all our doubts and explained the points where we got stuck.” For extracurricular activities at NIAT, Nitish said that there are tennis tournaments and chess.

If You Are Wondering, Do I Really Get To Solve Real-World Problems?

An NIAT student says,
“ I joined because one of my seniors who had a good rank in EMCAT joined in the very first batch, which had only 20 students. My senior is now working as an EA with the founder of a start-up. He builds products from scratch and helps the founder with Critical decision-making. This college makes you find real-world problems and come up with solutions. My peers have gone to the Mumbai tech week.”

What makes NIAT stand out from traditional colleges?

One Student admits that
NIAT isn’t everyone’s cup of tea– it’s intense and feels more like school with the packed schedule and limited holidays. But honestly, I’m one of the students who got to go to Mumbai Tech Week and showcase our project in front of IT ministers and tech leaders. That kind of exposure so early in college is something I’m really grateful for.
NIAT does support creative fields such as editing and filmmaking. There are clubs, opportunities, and even equipment available, all planned in an organised manner to ensure the schedule does not disturb or distract us from our goals.

Another student talks about how NIAT stands out from traditional engineering colleges, stating,
“NIAT breaks the mold by offering a real-time adaptive curriculum. This means you learn skills that are directly applicable to today’s fast-changing world, which top MNCS expect from candidates during job placements. Additionally, their learning methodology is far superior to that of traditional colleges. We often hear the phrase ‘learning by doing,’ and here, they place a strong emphasis on practical and hands-on experiences—something we may have missed out on in our time. These are just a few insights I gained from visiting their campus.”

Another person commented,
“Compared to traditional colleges, NIAT is completely different in terms of its curriculum, teaching staff, Projects, Learning atmosphere, Placements, and many more.
The NIAT’s 4-year engineering curriculum is based on industry-required standards. We can’t see any unwanted subjects here. Recently, I heard that the students in their first year got many internships. For software aspirants, I can say that they can consider NIAT as the first option to join.
Creating an atmosphere like a software company where a student studying Engineering is unique and appreciable. I believe that NIAT will surely be a new innovation to help students become strong in the IT market.”

One student commented on Reddit that,
“People hate or dismiss the college, thinking this is new and doesn’t have that traditional type of teaching, but for the students who study here, they know how chill it is (mentors and teachers). However, sometimes I feel pressured, but again, it’s improving my skills only, so it’s ignorable for me.

Also, they teach and support content creation who like to make videos, which I know for sure that no other Btech college does in our country. They call proper influencers to teach this as well, but it’s like a workshop for us and not in the curriculum.”

Student Reflects on Events Hosted at NIAT!
We had a DJ night on sports days, we have regular events at college, we had freshers, sports day, hackathons, stand-ups and lots more.
Ishan Sharma” came to campus, and “Tharun Speaks” came to campus. The thing is, right now, everyone is competing to get paid internships …. everyone wants to do real projects as proper internships, and college is providing that support. You tell me which college pushes students to get the best placements in the first year itself …. so yes, you won’t miss that life, but you won’t also be having fun all the time.”

NIAT Reviews: By Parents and Guardians

One Parent said,
Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect, but I walked out really impressed. The way they focus on real-world skills instead of just bookish knowledge is something I wish we had in our time! In just a few months, my nephew has already worked on a real AI project, and the crazy part? He and his friends got to present it at Mumbai Tech Week! Imagine first-year students talking to investors and industry leaders. That’s not something you see in regular colleges. Also, the infrastructure is like a modern office and cosy. (a little better than my office )I was talking to his friends, and they were talking about current technologies like LLM Model, AI, etc., similar to the things I discussed in the office. We were not like this during my engineering; we were just reading a book.

Another thing I liked is that they don’t wait until the final year to talk about placements. They start from day one with projects, coding competitions, and mentorship from people who have worked in top tech companies like Google, Microsoft, PayPal, etc. My nephew seems so confident and excited about learning, which makes me happy as a family member. If you’re looking for a college that prepares students for the future, NIAT is definitely one to check out.”

Another Parent on Quora said,
“My little girl—my sister’s daughter—has grown up so much! After her intermediate, I suggested she join NIAT instead of a regular college. At first, she was scared. It was a new college….” But as the admission process went on, she started feeling better. By the time she joined, she was confident and excited. Now, it’s been seven months, and she has already built two projects! Seeing her grow like this made me really happy. I felt like I gave her the right advice. She is now very confident in her skills… “From what I have seen, NIAT’s way of teaching is really good. In today’s world, practical skills are very important, and colleges like this are needed. If students only follow the old ways of learning, it will be difficult to compete in this fast-growing tech world. Technology is changing every day, and we all need to keep up. My niece also told me NIAT students are getting internships in their first year! She is preparing for one now, and I am sure we will hear good news soon.

Another Parent, whose nephew joined NIAT last year, said,
The Good thing is that it’s very hands-on training. Students at NIAT have built some extraordinary projects, like Life-Saving Drones and Self-Driving Cars. They even made a Productivity Game in 12 Hours and a Website in 7 Hours!

My nephew is way ahead of any of his peers who joined elsewhere. He keeps sharing updates on his hackathon and projects he built. I am sure he is enjoying his learning. He also attended interviews for internships in the first year itself. This is the most astonishing thing to me.”

NIAT College in Chennai Counselling Session:

A Student has recently attended a counselling session with the NIAT college team. She felt really hopeful and positive based on what they explained. She further said –
“I felt this college is a good one. According to me, colleges should majorly focus on two points: the curriculum and placements. They are good at both points. They said they have designed the curriculum based on industry needs. The college faculty already has work experience in top tech companies, and with all their suggestions, the curriculum is designed.”

“The counsellor also informed that they have already partnered with many companies so that from the start of the year itself, students can get internship opportunities. It gave me a positive impression and felt like a promising option for students.”
