Cherishing the dream of admission into prestigious institutions like IITs, NITs, and IIITs is an exciting event for aspirants preparing for JEE. JEE Mains is the first stage of the exam followed by the second stage JEE Advanced. The top 2,50,000 candidates who cleared JEE Mains are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced and are eligible to secure admissions in prestigious institutions like IITs.

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority is responsible for the admission process to these 23 IITs, 31 NITs, and 25 IIITs across India. Candidates who do not have a JEE Advanced rank can still participate in the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counselling process using their JEE Mains rank for admission to NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs. Admissions to all undergraduate programs offered by the participating institutions will be conducted through a unified platform. Counselling Process for JEE Advanced 2025

The counselling process involves several steps and candidates should know all the steps involved in the counselling process. Knowing the counselling process helps them prepare all the necessary documents and plan their schedule accordingly in advance.

Here is the step-by-step process involved in the JEE Advanced 2025 counselling process:

Step 1: Registration

Online registration is the first step of the counseling process. Candidates should visit the official website https://josaa.nic.in/ and log in using the JEE Advanced application number and other details. Registration requires information such as contact details, personal information, and other relevant details from candidates.

Step 2: Choice Filling

After completing the registration process, candidates have to select their preferred institutes and courses. This is the most important step and candidates are advised to select their preferences based on the available seats. Candidates should go through the list of participating colleges and choose their preferred institute. A specified deadline is given before which the candidate should lock their preferences.

Step 3: Seat Allotment

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) conducts the seat allotment process based on the choices filled and locked by the candidates. The allotment takes into account the candidate’s rank, category, and seat availability. JoSAA releases multiple rounds of seat allotment results, where candidates are assigned seats according to their merit and preferences. After the results are published, candidates must log in to their account to check their seat allotment status.

Step 4: Fee Payment & Seat Acceptance

Candidates can choose the following options after allotment of the seat: “Slide”, “Freeze”, and “Float”. “Slide” indicates that the candidate is ready to accept the seat and wishes to participate in further rounds for seat upgradation. “Freeze” allows the candidate to accept the seat and does not allow him to take part in further rounds. The “Float” option allows candidates to accept the allotted seat while still being eligible to participate in subsequent rounds for better options. To confirm their acceptance, candidates must pay the seat acceptance fee online within the given timeframe.

Step 5: Document Verification

Candidates have to appear for the document verification process at the designated centers. Candidates need a set of important documents such as admit cards and mark sheets. Successfully completing the document verification is a crucial step to ensure your admission in the allotted institute.

Step 6: Seat Confirmation

After document verification, candidates must log in to their account and download the “Provisional Seat Allotment Letter,” which includes details of the allotted institute and course. They must report to the institute within the specified timeframe, complete admission formalities, and pay any remaining fees. Once the process is complete, the seat allocation is confirmed, and candidates can begin their academic journey.
